Randal E. Suttles, 69, was born to Joseph Keith Suttles and Joan Louise Sandberg Suttles on November 26, 1955, in Indianapolis, IN, and passed into the presence of Jesus on January 11, 2025, at Franciscan Health in Indianapolis. He lived in Indianapolis and Carmel formerly and in rural Franklin (Clark Township) since 1987, living in a converted barn. His God-parents were Dean and Vera Evans.

Randy attended Brebeuf Preparatory School, leaving there after three years at age 16 to go to college at the University of Notre Dame, graduating in 1976 with his Bachelors in accounting, with highest honors and passing the CPA exam on the first attempt. He went on to work at Peat Marwick Mitchell (now called KPMG), then Fowler, Suttles & Co., Golden Rule Insurance, United Health Insurance and Medical Savings and more recently was a financial advisor to small businesses in the state. Randy was also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) which he earned in 1994. He had retired in December.

Randy was a member of Rocklane Christian Church since 1983 and a trustee there for over 40 years. An ornery disposition was his trademark but he was a very generous soul, working in the background, and was happiest when everyone was eating well and laughing. He loved reading, fishing and sitting out in the sun and he was a 4th degree black belt in Isshinryu karate for many years.

Getting engaged to Melissa (Missy) Copeland Suttles after knowing her for only four weeks, he then married her four months later on November 8, 1980, at Rocklane Christian Church. He was an exemplary husband and spoiled her rotten. Survivors include his wife, their wonderful kids, Leslie (Kent) Beeson of Clark Township, Joe (Shellye) Suttles of Fountain Square and Donna (Rob) Miller of Clark Township and his pride and joy, his eight grandkids: Megan (Zach) Faris, Kaden Beeson, Keelan Beeson, Drake Miller, Draven Miller, Kelton Beeson, Randal Lewis Suttles and Henry Suttles. He is also survived by two younger sisters, Pam (Mike) Williams and Tami (Bob) Leonard, brother-in-law Don (Debra Louise) Copeland and sister-in-law Leslie (David) Willis. He had several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and so very many friends who will miss him greatly.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Suttles (in 2010) and Joan Suttles (in 2020), his youngest child William Suttles (in 2019) and his in-laws, Donald B. Copeland (in 2024) and Donna Lou Rypma Copeland (in 2015).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Randy’s name to Rocklane Christian Church (4430 Rocklane Road, Greenwood, IN 46143) or the Clark-Pleasant Educational Foundation (50 Center Street, Whiteland, IN 46184).

There will be no visitation, services or burial. Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN is handling the arrangements.
